Microsemi Corporation Named as Sponsor of Folino Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif.- Microsemi will serve as the presenting sponsor of Cal State Fullerton's annual Folino Invitational to be held on Feb. 17-18 at the Industry Hills Golf Club in Industry Hills, Calif.

The Microsemi Corporation offers a comprehensive portfolio of semiconductor and system solutions for communications, defense & security, aerospace and industrial markets. Products include high-performance, radiation-hardened and highly reliable analog mixed-signal integrated circuits.

The tournament is named for philanthropist Paul Folino, the primary benefactor behind the return of intercollegiate golf to Cal State Fullerton in 2009-10 after a hiatus of more than two decades.

Nine men's teams will travel to Industry Hills for the fourth-annual event, which will consist of 54 holes over two days. Along with Microsemi Corporation, other corporate sponsors CoreLogic, Emulex, First American, and invited guests will highlight a fund-raising amateur tournament that will take place on Feb. 8 at the Industry Hills Golf Course. With a shotgun tee-off beginning at 10:30 a.m., the tournament's goal is to raise over $200,000 for the golf program. The collegiate tournament then begins with 36 holes on Monday (Feb. 17) and concludes with the final round on Tuesday (Feb. 18).

For the forth-consecutive season, the Titan men will play from the championship tees on the Par 72 Eisenhower ("Ike") course that measures 7,211 yards. Along with the Titans of Cal State Fullerton, the balance of the men's teams include CSU Bakersfield, UC Irvine, Cal Baptist, Sacramento State, Rutgers, Utah State, Grand Canyon and British Columbia.

The defending champion from 2013 was Long Beach State posting an overall score of 872 (+8). The tournament was highlighted by first place finishes from UC Irvine's Travis Russell (71-71-72--214), LMU's Tyler Torano (75-67-72--214), and Sacramento State's Ryan Williams (69-70-7--214). Russell was crowned tournament champion after a playoff round.

Fullerton's men's team will open its spring season at the Arizona Intercollegiate beginning on Monday in Tucson, Ariz., hosted by the University of Arizona.
