FULLERTON, Calif.--- Cal State Fullerton and head men's basketball coach Dedrique Taylor have agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with an option for a fourth year with criteria, athletics director Jim Donovan announced on April 11, 2017.

"Coach Taylor has this program going in the right direction, on and off the court," said Donovan. "He is a big part of our Titan family and I look forward to seeing Titan Basketball continue to reach new heights under Dedrique's leadership."

Taylor has been at the helm of the Fullerton basketball program for four seasons, most recently leading the Titans to their most wins since 2012, after Fullerton finished with a 17-15 record in 2016-17. The year concluded with the Titans qualifying for postseason play for just the seventh time in school history, as they hosted Weber State in the opening round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. The event also marked the first time Fullerton had ever hosted a postseason game.

"I'm excited to continue what we've started here," Taylor said. "Cal State Fullerton is a special place and we as a program look forward to continuing to make our institution and community proud. I look forward to coaching this team for years to come."

For Taylor, the success at Cal State Fullerton was not built overnight, as the Titans have improved in the win column in each of the last three seasons under his guidance, including propelling the team to seven more wins than the 10 it had during the 2015-16 season.

In all, Taylor has coached eight Titans to Big West All-Conference honors, including tutoring freshman Jackson Rowe to a spectacular freshman campaign for Fullerton, as he was named the Big West Freshman of the Year, after averaging 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in 2016-17.

Taylor was hired as Cal State Fullerton's head coach on April 3, 2013 after spending 13 years as an assistant coach.
