FULLERTON, Calif. – More than 160 attendees filled Titan Gym in support of the 2015-16 Titans squad on the evening of Sunday, Nov. 1 at the inaugural Cal State Fullerton Men's Basketball Center Court Tip-Off dinner.
Cal State Fullerton managed to gross over $30,000 at the fundraising event as numerous items were auctioned off. All proceeds from the dinner will directly benefit the men's basketball program.
"I am so grateful for all the Titan supporters who attended our inaugural tip-off dinner," Head Coach Dedrique Taylor said. "It was a great opportunity for our supporters to mingle with our players and connect with them on a personal level."
The event began with a cocktail hour in which supporters, families and friends had a chance to mingle with the current Cal State Fullerton men's basketball team and coaches, as well as alumni including master of ceremonies, Greg Bunch, and keynote speaker, Cedric Ceballos.
"Having two Titan greats in Greg (Bunch) and Ced (Ceballos), who both shared their Titan experiences, was one of the evening highlights," Taylor explained.
A dinner and program, which took place on the court in Titan Gym, followed. Attendees had the opportunity to see the gym in a different environment as the venue was transformed from a basketball court to a formal dining hall complete with banquet tables, a stage, podium and silent auction table.
"We are looking forward to carrying the momentum from last night into the start of the season," Taylor said of the successful fundraising event.
Cal State Fullerton will return to that same court Friday, Nov. 6 when the Titans host Bethesda University in an exhibition game at 5:30 p.m. Following the men's game, the CSF women's squad will take on Hope International at 7:30 p.m. in an exhibition contest of their own.
The Titans kick off the 2015-16 season Friday, Nov. 13 at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, Calif., at 7 p.m. Fullerton's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 21 versus San Diego at 3 p.m. in Titan Gym.
