Center Court Tip-off Dinner (PDF)
FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton All-American and 11-year NBA veteran Cedric Ceballos will highlight the Titans' inaugural Center Court Tip-Off Dinner on Sunday, Nov. 1.
Ceballos was the epitome of a "scorer" with perimeter and inside skills, particularly adept on the offensive glass while at Fullerton. He was a two-time (1989 & 1990) first-team All-Big West selection and earned honorable mention All-America recognition in both 1989 and 1990. He was drafted in the second round as the 48th overall pick of the 1990 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns.
The Center Court Tip-off fundraiser will be a great opportunity to meet and mingle with the 2015-16 men's basketball team, coaches and former Titan alumni, and all proceeds will directly benefit the Cal State Fullerton men's basketball program.
The event will include a cocktail hour beginning at 4 p.m., followed by the dinner program, silent auction and more.
"This is a great opportunity for our fans and those interested in supporting Titan Basketball to engage with our staff and both current and former student-athletes," third-year head coach Dedrique Taylor said. "We are looking forward to spending time with everyone in attendance as we foster financial support for the program as well as preview the season and hear from Titan great Cedric Ceballos. We are planning for a great evening and an exciting season."
Ceballos was selected as the national Junior College Transfer of the Year by Basketball Weekly, and twice led Cal State Fullerton in scoring and rebounding. He twice made the All-Big West Tournament team and holds school career records for scoring average (22.1 ppg) and rebounding average (10.7 rpg). He holds single-season rebounding records with a total of 362 and 12.5 rpg, and his scoring average of 23.1 ppg and his total of 669 points rank No. 3.
Ceballos played for the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat.
He led the NBA in field goal percentage (57.6) in 1992–93 with the Suns, and reached the NBA Finals that same year with Phoenix.
During the 1994-95 season, he led the Lakers in scoring (21.7 ppg) and made his only All-Star team, but he did not appear in the game due to injury. Ceballos led the Lakers in scoring (21.2 ppg) the following season as well.
He is also well known for winning the 1992 NBA Slam Dunk Championship with a blindfolded slam.
