Titans Welcome Caltech in Exhibition Play Saturday
FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's basketball team will host Caltech at 6 p.m., Saturday, in the squad's only tune-up before the official start of the 2014-15 season.
 

Admission to Titan Gym for the game is free of charge.

Caltech competes as an NCAA Division III institution in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Beavers finished the 2013-14 season with a record of 3-22 as KC Emezie averaged 11.0 points per game.

 

Cal State Fullerton returns five lettermen and three starters from last year's team, including Big West Conference honorable mention guard Alex Harris.

In addition, the Titans welcome six newcomers including Jamar Akoh, Malcolm Henderson, Keilan Horton, Lanerryl Johnson, Kennedy Esume and Temjae Singleton as well as two returning redshirts in Moses Morgan and Corey Walker.

 

The Titans open the season playing seven of their first eight games on the road. Cal State Fullerton will visit Santa Clara on Friday, Nov. 14 in the team's season opener and will travel to New Mexico to play the three-time defending Mountain West Conference regular season champions at The Pit on Sunday, Nov. 16.

 

Cal State Fullerton hosts San Jose State at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 22 in the team's home opener at Titan Gym. Tickets are available HERE.

 

2014 RECAP
• Cal State Fullerton's 2013-14 campaign came to a close on March 13, 2014, when the Titans suffered a 66-56 to Long Beach State in the quarterfinals of the Big West Tournament held at Honda Center. Fullerton completed the year with a record of 11-20 overall as well as a 6-10 mark in Big West play, which secured CSF the No. 6 seed at the Tournament. 

• The Titans completed the 2014 season with a winning record of 8-6 at Titan Gym, but a struggling mark of 3-12 on the road and a record of 0-2 at neutral site games. 

• Cal State Fullerton completed the first half of its Big West Conference schedule with a record of 2-6, although the Titans played UC Riverside twice during the first leg, and played Hawai'i twice during the second leg. Fullerton finished the second half of conference play with a record of 4-4.

• The Titans split season series with UC Davis, UC Riverside, Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara, CSUN and Long Beach State, but were swept by UC Irvine and Hawai'i .

• Cal State Fullerton used 11 different starting lineups during the season…the Titans were 7-0 when scoring over 74 points and shooting 50 percent or more from the floor. 

• Fullerton completed the second half of Big West action with a record of 4-4. During that stretch, the Titans averaged 71.6 points per game and shot 44.7 percent from the floor while knocking 53 three-pointers. Michael Williams led the Titans averaging 20.8 points per game during that stretch followed by Alex Harris (18.0 ppg).

A Big West Conference honorable mention pick, appeared in 27 games making 26 starts as one of Fullerton's main offensive options…also was often given the task of defending the opponent's leading scorer…finished second on the team in points per game (15.6), which also ranked ninth in the Big West.

Appeared in 31 games and made 22 starts…averaged 6.1 points and a team-leading 5.9 rebounds per game…shot a team-leading 59.1 percent (75-of-127) from the floor…recorded six double-figure scoring games, four double-figure rebounding efforts and a team-best three double-doubles.

Appeared in all 31 games and made 10 starts, including the last five games of the season…averaged 7.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game, shooting 44.1 percent from the floor…26 three pointers (.338) ranked third on the team…recorded double figures in scoring on eight occasions.

Appeared in all 31 games and started 20 at point guard…averaged 4.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game…led the Titans in assists on eight occasions.

Appeared in 28 games and made four starts…averaged 2.1 points and 2.5 rebounds per game shooting 40.7 percent (22-of-54) from the floor…led the Titans in rebounding on three occasions.

A 2014 graduate of Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif…a two-year starter (2013 & 14)…as a senior averaged 12.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game…named to the Baseline League Second Team and received Daily Bulletin Inland Valley honorable mention accolades.

JR • C • Kennedy Esume
During the 2013-14 season, helped the College of Southern Idaho to a 27-5 overall record and No. 10 ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association poll…the Golden Eagles won the Scenic West Athletic Conference title and took second in the Region 18 Tournament…in 30 games played for the Golden Eagles during 2014, averaged 3.9 points per game shooting 62.5 percent from the floor…averaged 4.0 rebounds per game and totaled 20 blocks.

Did not play during the 2013-14 season at Missouri State West Plains JC…played in 20 games as a freshman (2012-13) at Missouri State West Plains JC for head coach Yancey Walker.

Averaged 18.3 points per game during the 2013-14 season at Central Arizona College for head coach JD Pollock…totaled 57 three-pointers and 64 assists while shooting 78.1 percent (121-of-155) from the free-throw line…named to the all-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Division I Second Team.

Played in 12 games at Colorado State during the 2012-13 season…attended Ennis High School in Ennis, Texas...ranked No. 13 in the state and rated nationally as a three-star recruit by TexasHoops.com and Rivals.com...earned three all-district nods (2010-12), district MVP (2011) and was garnered all-state honors as a junior and senior for the Lions

In 2013-14, utilized his redshirt season after transferring from DePaul…appeared in 83 games over three seasons for the Blue Demons, averaging 6.6 points and 2.2 rebounds while shooting just over 35 percent from the floor in that span.

Played the 2013-14 season at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz…averaged 10.4 points per game shooting 44.4 percent from the floor…added 32 three-pointers and 5.4 rebounds per game.

In 2013-14, utilized his redshirt season after transferring from…did not play at Hampton during 2012-13… played two seasons under current Cal State Fullerton Associate Head Coach John Smith while at Riverside City College…twice earned All-Orange Empire Conference First-Team honors as a point guard.
