DIRECTV Signs On as Title Sponsor of 2014 Wooden Legacy

DIRECTV and ESPN announced an agreement to continue the broadcast satellite service provider's title sponsorship of the 2014 DIRECTV Wooden Legacy.  The DIRECTV Wooden Legacy college basketball tournament will be played at Titan Gym and Honda Center over Thanksgiving weekend on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Nov. 27, 28 and 30.

"We are thrilled to have DIRECTV return as the title sponsor for the college basketball tournament honoring the legacy of Coach John Wooden," said Pete Derzis, senior vice president and GM, ESPN Regional Television.  "DIRECTV's commitment to excellence embodies everything that Coach Wooden stood for and we look forward to working with them to provide a great experience for the student-athletes in the 2014 event."

The bracket for the 2014 DIRECTV Wooden Legacy was released in August. The eight schools competing in the tournament will be Long Beach State, Princeton, San Diego, San Jose State, UTEP, Washington, Western Michigan and Xavier.

The opening two rounds of the DIRECTV Wooden Legacy will be played at Titan Gym on the campus of Cal State Fullerton on Thursday and Friday.  The DIRECTV Wooden Legacy then moves to Honda Center with four placement contests, featuring the championship game, on Sunday.

Five of the eight teams in the 2014 DIRECTV Wooden Legacy competed in the postseason last March. Western Michigan and Xavier earned berths in the NCAA Championships, while Princeton and UTEP participated in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and San Diego reached the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).
