FULLERTON, Calif. – Three former Titans, Bobby Brown, Josh Akognon and Kwame Vaughn, are currently competing in the NBA Summer League held in Las Vegas, which runs through Monday, July 21.

 

Brown (2004-07) is currently playing for the Portland Trail Blazers summer team with the next game scheduled for a 1 p.m. PT start against Atlanta on Tuesday. Brown recently played in China for the Dongguan Leopards.

 

While at Cal State Fullerton, Brown averaged 16.9 points and 4.4 assists per game. He led the Titans in scoring for his final two years in a Titan uniform, while leading Cal State Fullerton in assists throughout his career.

 

Brown holds CSF career records for points scored (1,961), field goals made (692), and three-point field goals made (307). He was a National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District selection in 2006 and 2007, and was named Big West Freshman of the Year in 2004, while earning first-team honors in 2006 and 2007.

 

Brown also holds the record for most points in a single game for a Titan, scoring 47 against Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 16, 2006 in a 94-65 victory.

 

Brown made his NBA debut on Oct. 31, 2008 after being signed as a free agent by Sacramento. He played in 47 games for the Kings that season, before playing 21 games for Minnesota. During the 2009-10 season, he played 22 games with New Orleans and 23 games with the L.A. Clippers.

 

Akognon (2008-09) is playing with NBA D-League select team. He recently played for the Delaware 87ers, averaging 15.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game during the 2013-14 season.

 

The NBA D-League select team suffered an 89-75 loss to Sacramento on Monday.

 

Akognon made his NBA debut on April 10, 2013 for the Dallas Mavericks and played in three games. After transferring from Washington State, Akognon averaged 22.0 points per game during two years for the Titans.

 

In 2009, he set the Cal State Fullerton single-season record for points scored (764), and he also holds the top two single-season three-point marks with 136 from long distance in 2009 and 116 in 2008. During his career, he recorded two 40-point games – the only Titan to complete the feat - nine 30-point games and 28 20-point efforts.

 

Akognon was an Associated Press All-American honorable mention pick following the 2009 season after earning NABC all-district honors in both 2008 and 2009. In 2009, he was named the Big West Player of the Year.

 

He also was named the Big West Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Titans to their last Big West regular season championship, Big West Tournament championship and NCAA appearance in 2008.

 

Vaughn (2012-13) is a member of the Washington Wizards NBA summer team. Washington's next game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. PT tip against Miami on Tuesday. Vaughn recently played professionally in Italy.

 

Vaughn was a two-time Big West all-conference selection, and was named to the Big West All-Academic team following the 2012 season. In his two years at Fullerton, Vaughn averaged 17.0 points per game, and during his senior campaign led Fullerton in scoring (18.4 ppg), rebounds (4.6 rpg), free-throw percentage (.837) and assists (119).
