FULLERTON, Calif. – Down by one run heading into the eighth inning, the Titans offense exploded to score four runs leading to a 7-5 victory over Tulane Saturday night at Goodwin Field.

Late in the game trailing by one run the Titans were looking for answers on offense after only recording one hit from the fourth inning on. With runners on first and second after drawing walks, Josh Urps stepped to the plate and came up with a clutch two RBI triple to the gap in left center-field to give the Titans a one run lead.

The Titans weren't done there as Urps would later score on a passed ball before Zach Lew would make it a three-run game, scoring on a wild pitch.

Kyle Luckham had another brilliant start on the mound for the Titans, going 6.1 innings while allowing only five hits and striking out six. Luckham gave up four runs, however, only one of them was an earned run. In his first two starts, Luckham has only given up two earned runs in 13.1 innings pitched.

Freshman Evan Adolphus looked as if he was a fifth-year senior pitcher with his poise and confidence, coming into the game with bases loaded on no outs to not give up a hit and only allow one run on a sacrifice fly. Adolphus picked up his first collegiate win to move to 1-0 this season.

Keagan Gillies recorded the loss for Tulane, his first of the season to put him at 0-1, after giving up two hits and four runs (two earned) in just 0.2 innings of work.

Austin Schell had another great night behind and at the plate for the Titans, going 2-for-4 at the dish. Isaiah Garcia had a strong night at the plate as well as he went 2-for-5 with one run. Garcia is second on the team behind Lew with a .320 batting average.

Michael Weisberg came in to finish out the game for the Titans on the bump in the ninth inning, recording his first save of the 2020 season. Weisberg finished out the game in dramatic fashion, with runners on second and third with two outs he got the batter to strike out swinging to close out the game and even up the series.

The Titans go for their second series win in as many attempts Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. PT.
