Jose Mota is one of the most accomplished Titans of all time, earning All-American status in 1985 and helping Cal State Fullerton win the College World Series in 1984. Over his successful three-year collegiate career he batted .327, scored 142 runs, racked 210 hits, including 17 doubles, 10 triples and seven homers to go along with 99 RBI.
In addition to being a two-time All-Big West First Team member (1984 and 1985), Mota still ranked sixth in program history in games played in a season (76), seventh in at-bats in a season (286), 10th in hits in a season (102), fourth in triples in a season (7) and seventh in walks for a single season (52).
Mota also spent two seasons in the Majors, one with the San Diego Padres and the other with the Kanas City Royals before retiring and getting into broadcasting.
Mota currently enjoys a successful broadcasting career with the Los Angeles Angels and MLB Network.
Cal State Fullerton wrapped up the 2018 season with a 36-25 overall record, notching the program's 30th conference crown and the 44th straight 30-win season for the Titans. Fullerton fell just one game short of reaching its 19th CWS.
Fullerton made its 40th NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018 in 44 seasons at the NCAA Division I level. It was the Titans 27th straight postseason berth, the second longest active streak behind Florida State (41).
