FULLERTON, Calif. – For the second straight weekend, Cal State Fullerton saw some encouraging performances, as the Titans and New Mexico State Aggies played 18 innings in a fall exhibition, Saturday afternoon at Goodwin Field. Fullerton won the first nine innings 6-5, while New Mexico State took the second nine by the final of 5-3. Only the first five innings of the second game were stated.
Offensively, Sahid Valenzuela led the way with a 2-for-5 performance in the first game, while scoring a run. Jason Brandow came through with a big two-RBI triple and scored a run, while Jacob Pavletich blasted a two-RBI double and scored a run.
Kameron Guangorena went 1-for-3 from the plate and scored a run while plating two. Mitchell Berryhill and Brett Borgogno each came through with RBI singles as well.
Daniel Cope had himself a 1-for-2 day with a couple of walks and a run scored. Hank LoForte went 1-for-5 with a run scored. Zach Weisz was a perfect 1-for-1 in a pinch-hit situation.
In all, six different Titans scored runs on the day.
On the pitching end, Evan Larsen came through with his second straight strong fall outing, recording two outs to close out the game and earn the save without allowing a run.
Timothy Josten was strong in relief, tossing 3.0 innings, while surrendering just one run and fanning three.
In the second nine innings, Bryce Wooldridge and Jairus Richards each picked up knocks.
On the pitching end, Tanner Bibee and Landon Anderson combined to toss five innings of one-run ball.
Bibee earned the start and pitched 3.0 innings, while surrendering just three hits and a run, while fanning five. Anderson went 2.0 innings, gave three hits and struck out a couple.
