FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton has been named as the second most cost-effective baseball program over the past decade according to an in-depth study released by ValuePenguin on Wednesday.

In the study, ValuePenguin analyzed the average RPI – rating percentage index, which ranks a team based on wins, loses and strength of schedule – rankings and annual team expenses of 293 Division I schools over the last decade, from 2008 to 2018. The data shows which programs are the most efficient with their spending on top of consistent performance.

The Titans were placed second on the list, just behind North Carolina and were the highest west coast team on the list. The next highest west coast team was Oregon State coming in at No. 7. UC Irvine was the second highest Big West team, coming in at No. 37.

The last time this study was done in 2013, the Titans ranked No. 1 on the list in terms of most cost-effective programs.

Over the past decade, Fullerton boasts the 23rd highest RPI, three trips to the College World Series and has produced three first round MLB draft picks. During that time frame, the Titans have operated at an annual Cost of $1,284,173, which is just $137,695 above the average annual expense per Division I team.
