FULLERTON, Calif. – Three former Cal State Fullerton Titans have advanced to the championship series with their respective Major League Baseball clubs, as former infielder Justin Turner has advanced to the National League Championship Series, while former pitchers Chris Devenski and Mike Harkey square off in the American League Championship Series.
Turner helped guide the Los Angeles Dodgers to a three-game sweep over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLDS, as he hit an incredible .462 at the plate, while going 6-of-13 with a home run, five RBI and a run scored. He also coupled that line with a .533 on-base percentage and .692 slugging percentage.
The former Titan hero, also went 3-of-4 from the dish with a homer and five RBI in game one of the series. The five RBI tied the record for most RBI in a postseason game.
Devenski also sees his season stay alive, as he helped the Houston Astros take out the Boston Red Sox in four games in the ALDS. Devenksi pitched in three games for Astros and threw 2.1 innings.
Bullpen coach Mike Harkey helped the New York Yankees defeat one of the hottest teams in baseball in the Cleveland Indians, as New York took the series in five games. Harkey guided the Yankee staff to a 3.21 ERA in 56.0 innings pitched. The pitching staff held opponents to a .186 batting averaging, which is the best in the postseason.
The Yankees and Astros will begin their ALCS clash tonight in Houston, Texas. The game can be seen on FS1 at 5 pm PT.
The Dodgers and Cubs will get their NLDS rematch underway tomorrow at 5 pm PT. Game one will be in Los Angeles, Calif. and can be seen on TBS.
