Three Former Titans to Participate in MLB Postseason in 2017

FULLERTON, Calif. – Former Cal State Fullerton infielder Justin Turner, pitchers Mike Harkey and Chris Devenski will participate in Major League Baseball's postseason this October.

Devenski will be making his postseason debut with the Houston Astros this season. Devenski and the Astros will square off with Boston Red Sox in the American League Division series, beginning with game one on Thursday at 1 pm PT in Houston, Texas. The game will be televised on MLB Network.

Harkey is in his eighth season as the New York Yankees bullpen coach. New York will continue its quest for its 28th World Series championship on Thursday, it'll take on the Cleveland Indians in game one of the ALDS at 4:30 pm PT at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. The game will be televised on FS1.

Turner will participate in postseason play for the second consecutive season, as he'll lead a 104-win Los Angeles Dodgers team into postseason play, as they'll take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Division Series. Game one is Friday at 7:30 pm PT. The game can be seen on TBS.

Devenski has been a key part of the Astros' bullpen all season long, as he's gone 8-5 with a 2.68 ERA, while compiling 100 strikeouts to go along with a WHIP of 0.94 and four saves on the year. He ranked sixth in the American League in regular season holds with 24. In just his second year in the show, Devenski helped lead Houston to one of its best seasons in franchise history, compiling a 101-61 regular season record and claiming the American League West Division Title.

Devenski appeared in 15 games out of the bullpen for Cal State Fullerton in 2011, his only season with the Titans. He was 2-0 with a 4.98 ERA and recorded two saves. He struck out 26 while issuing eight walks in 21 and 2/3 innings pitched. He allowed 12 runs and 29 hits during the season.

Turner has done it all for the Dodgers in 2017, as his .322 batting average during the regular season ranked fifth best in MLB and third highest in the National League. He also crushed 21 home runs, produced 71 RBI and scored 72 runs, while recording an on-base percentage of .415.

Turner spent four seasons at Cal State Fullerton from 2003 to 2006 including being a member of the 20-4 National Championship team in 2004. He was a freshman All-American and was named to the College World Series all-tournament team in 2003. He ranks in the Top 10 all-time for games (253), at bats (1008), hits (331), runs (202), doubles (61), total bases (430), hit by pitches (46), and sac hits (38) at Fullerton.

Both Turner and Devenski earned their first All-Star Game appearances this season.

Harkey played at Cal State Fullerton from 1985-87. While with the Titans he compiled a 22-12 record to go along  with a stellar 3.22 ERA and 281 strikeouts in 333.0 innings pitched.
