HOUSTON.--- Former Cal State Fullerton first baseman J.D. Davis made his Major League Baseball debut for the Houston Astros on August 5, 2017, becoming the 64th Titan in program history to make it to the bigs.
Davis' debut was a successful one, as he picked up his first big league knock in just his second MLB at bat. He beat out a bouncer hit to the shortstop for an infield single an ended up going 1-for-4 in a 4-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Minute Maid Park.
He got on base once again in his second career start at third base, this time recording a walk in an 8-5 loss to the Chicago White Sox.
Davis put together a superb career while playing for Rick Vanderhook, as he was named a two-time Big West First Team member. Davis finished his four-year career at Fullerton batting .308, while collecting 175 hits, 33 doubles, blasting 14 home runs and recording 113 RBI. He of course helped lead the Titans to the postseason in all four seasons, including a trip to the Super Regionals in 2013.
