Garneau's First Major League Hit

DENVER - Former Cal State Fullerton catcher Dustin Garneau became the 59th former Titans player to appear in Major League Baseball after making his debut with the Colorado Rockies on Thursday night against the Washington Nationals at Coors Field in Denver.

Garneau doubled in his first career at-bat in the second inning off Nationals ace Max Scherzer. Garneau would finish the night 1-for-4 as the Rockies defeated the Nationals, 3-2.

The backstop saved his best season for last as he set career-bests in batting average, rns scored, home runs and RBI. Garneau batted .284 in 53 games during his senior year in 2009, belting 44 hits including seven doubles and his first career triple. He blasted five home runs and had 28 RBI to help lead the Titans to the NCAA College World Series. It would be the program's last trip to Omaha prior to Fullerton's appearance in the CWS this past season.
