Titans in the Pros: Dorn Makes MLB Debut

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Former Cal State Fullerton outfielder Danny Dorn made his Major League Baseball debut for the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday night at Chase Field.

Dorn, who was officially called up earlier in the day, entered the game in the bottom of the seventh inning and drew a walk in his only plate appearance of the night. Dorn became the 56th former Titan to play in MLB and first to make his debut in the 2015 season. Last year, Christian Colon and Gary Brown became the 54th and 55th former Titans respectively to reach MLB.

Dorn also became the 26th former Titans All-American to play in the Majors. He was named to the Baseball America First Team All-Freshman All-American team and the Collegiate Baseball All-Freshman team in 2003.

A member of the 2004 National Championship team, Dorn batted .318 and started in 64 of 66 games that season. He also hit four home runs and had a career-high 59 RBIs with 17 doubles. Overall, Dorn played in 240 games from 2003-06. It is the fourth most games ever played by a Titan. He batted .320 for his career including a .358 batting average as a freshman in 53 games. His 54 RBIs in 2003 are also the most by a freshman in Fullerton history. In his career, Dorn had 258 hits, 25 home runs and 205 RBIs with the Titans.
