FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton infielder Jake Jefferies and right-handed pitcher Thomas Eshelman swept the Big West Conference Player of the Week awards, the conference announced Monday.

Jefferies earned Big West Conference Field Player of the Week honors after going 6-for-13 (.462 BA) with three runs scored, two RBI and two walks while posting a .533 on-base percentage. He helped lead the Titans to a sweep of No. 5 Texas Tech over the weekend, hitting .556 (5-for-9) in the series including a 3-for-3 night in Friday night's 4-0 victory.

Jefferies has now reached base in 13 consecutive games and is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak following the weekend.

Others nominated: Peter Van Gansen (Cal Poly); Jonathan Serven (Long Beach State); Tino Lipson (UC Davis); Parker Coss (UC Irvine); Robby Nesovic (UC Santa Barbara); Jacob Sheldon-Collins (Hawai'i)

Eshelman had his best start of the season Friday night as he stifled a Texas Tech offense that had outscored the opposition 85-45 going into the weekend.

The Carlsbad, Calif. native set a new career-high with 14 strikeouts as he tossed a complete-game shutout in the Titans 4-0 win over the Red Raiders. Eshelman faced the minimum through five innings and scattered five hits on the night.

He allowed just two base runners to advance to second base. Eshelman is now 2-2 on the season with a miniscule 1.23 ERA. He has recorded 39 strikeouts compared to just four walks in 29 and 1/3 innings pitched.

Others nominated: Tanner Brown (Long Beach State); Orlando Razo (UC Davis); Elliot Surrey (UC Irvine); Dillon Tate (UC Santa Barbara); LJ Brewster (Hawai'i)
