The 2023-24 season marks Alex Tebbe's ninth academic year with the Cal State Fullerton Cross Country and Track and Field coaching staff.
For 2019, the men's track and field team came up just short of a three-peat, taking a runner-up finish in the team competition. However, the women's squad won the first track and field title in program history, besting UC Santa Barbara by 6.5 points in second place. Later in 2019, the women's cross country team won the first Big West Championship in program history. Fullerton won on the women's side with 44 points as UC Davis had 50 in second place and Cal Poly had 51 in third. And in the same competition the men's squad took second place, tied for the best finish in program history and the last time CSF took second place was in 1993.
In 2021, the men's team won the track and field title with 163 points, just edging out Cal Poly's 157 points. The competition came down to the final event of the day, the men's 4x400-meter relay, and the Titans won the race and secured the program's third title in four years. On the women's side, the squad earned a runner-up finish with 149.50 points, trailing Cal Poly's 181.50 points in first place.
At the 2018 Big West Championships, the men's team earned a third-place finish for the third straight year while the women tied the best finish in program history as they took second place.
On the track in 2017 and 2018, Tebbe contributed to the men's team earning the first Big West Conference Championship in program history. Then in 2019, he helped the women's squad to the first title in program history.
During the 2015-16 calendar year with the Titans, Jose Penaloza was named Big West Crosss Country Athlete of the Week on Sept. 22, after an eighth-place finish at the Mustang Challenge to lead the Titans.
In addition, a total of 46 student-athletes from cross country, women's indoor track and men's and women's outdoor track were named to their respective conference all-academic teams. Furthermore, Aneesh Joshi and Nick Reynolds were named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team.
Prior to his time with the Titans, Tebbe competed four seasons at UC Irvine, running distances for the Anteaters.
Tebbe graduated from UC Irvine with a B.A. in psychology, social behavior and social ecology in 2015.
