FULLERTON, Calif. - For the second straight week, the Cal State Fullerton track and field program has been honored by the Big West Conference as Samantha Huerta was named Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week. 

Huerta (La Mirada, Calif.) broke her own school record in the mile to capture Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week accolades. Huerta finished in first place at the Ben Brown Invitational with a time of 4:46.77, eclipsing the previous mark of 4:48.02 set in 2018. Converted to 1,500 meters, Huerta's time is 4:25.52, which is No. 1 in the nation according to TFRRS. She won the race by over 13 seconds.

The Titans continue the season this weekend with split-squad action between the UC Irvine Collegiate Classic and Arizona State's Baldy Castillo Invitational.
