T&F Inks Three Early Signees

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton track and field head coach John Elders and his coaches have inked four student-athletes during the early signing period. One of the student-athletes will compete for the Titans in the upcoming in the 2018 season while the other three will enroll in classes for the fall of 2018.

Sprints

Assistant coach Marques Barosso is in his fourth year as the sprinters, hurdlers and relays coach of the Titans. He has added six sprinters to a group that is looking to build on a strong 2017 campaign. Barosso coached the men's 4x100-meter relay team to a Big West Championship and Diego Courbis, who returns to the squad this year, to a 400-meter hurdles conference title.

Hailey Murdica will graduate from Palm Desert High School in the spring of 2018 before joining the Titans. As a native of Palm Desert, Murdica competes in the 100 meters, 200 meters and both the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays. Murdica owns personal-best times of 12.05 in the 100m and 24.97 in the 200m. She won the 2017 Desert Valley League titles in both the 100 meters (12.11), 200 meters (25.03) and the 4x100-meter relay (48.13). Murdica took fifth place in the final of the 2017 CIF-SS Division 3 Finals in the 100 meters (12.22) and fifth in the final of the 200 meters (25.49) at the same meet. Murdica earned an eighth-place finish in the 100 meters at the 2017 Arcadia Invitational with a wind-aided time of 12.08.

Distance
Elders is in his 30th year as the head coach of the Titans and he works with the distance runners along with assistant coach Alex Tebbe. Tebbe is in his third year with CSF.

Lucina Vincent will join the Titans in the fall of 2018 and compete on the cross country squad as well as the track and field team. Vincent, a native of Brea that attends nearby El Dorado High School in Placentia. She earned a third-place finish at the CIF-SS Cross Country Division Finals, running 17:58.4 in the three-mile race. Vincent won the Orange County Cross Country Championships 5K race in a time of 17:56.1 and then took seventh place at the CIF State Cross Country Championships with a time of 18:24.8.

On the track, Vincent clocked personal-best times of 2:29.00 in the 800 meters and 5:13.00 in the mile during the 2017 season. Her personal-best time of 11:03.54 in the two-mile race came in 2016 while she ran a season-best time of 11:14 during 2017. She won the North Hills League Finals in the two-mile race with a time of 11:19.56 and went on to take ninth place in the CIF-SS Division 3 Finals in the event with a time of 11:57.07.

Sarah Hollis currently attends Riverside City College (RCC) and will join the Titans in the fall of 2018 to compete on both the cross country and track and field teams. In her first year at RCC, Hollis earned a fifth-place finish at the 2017 CCCAA California State Championships by clocking a time of 11:46.90 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She has clocked personal-best times of 2:36.44 (800 meters), 5:31.08 (1,500 meters), 19:02.87 (5K), 39:21.97 (10K) and 11:28.09 (3K-steeplechase) on the track. Hollis also placed third at the 2017 CA Community College Cross Country Championships with a time of 18:25.6. She also has a 5K cross country personal best of 17:57.1 set at the 2017 Titan Invite.

Hollis graduated from Hemet High School in 2016 and is a native of Hemet. She didn't begin running cross country and long distance in track until her freshman year at RCC, she was a jumper at Hemet.

The 2018 indoor track and field season begins for the women's squad on January 19 with the Lumberjack Team Challenge in Flagstaff, Ariz.
