FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton track and field team inked four early commits in Samantha Huerta, Sandra Flores, Gabriel Toscano and Ryan Wade who signed their National Letters of Intent to join the Titan family for the 2016-17 season.

"I'm very excited about the 2016-17 commitments we received in the early signing period. These student-athletes are a great start to our 2016-17 recruiting class," explained head coach John Elders. "Each of them will have an immediate impact on the quality of our team and will be great representatives of our program on and off the track."

Here's a closer look at early signees:

Samantha Huerta
La Mirada High School | La Mirada, Calif.

Huerta is a two-time Suburban League champion in the 1600m and 3200m and placed third in 2015 in the 1600m at the CIF-SS Division 2 Finals to advance her to the CSF-SS Masters meet. She has set track PR's of 4:54.51 for the 1600m and 59.74 for the 400m.

She has also excelled in cross country as the Suburban League champ in both 2014 and 2015. She set cross country PR's of 17:17 at the Woodbridge Invitational and 18:00 at Mt. SAC.

"Samantha is one of the most talented prep runners in the state," said Elders. "She only began running her sophomore and has steadily improved. She has the potential to be an elite runner at this level."

Sandra Flores
La Quinta High School | La Quinta, Calif.

Flores is the 2015 Desert Valley League champion in the 800m and was later a 2015 CIF-SS Division I Finalist in the 800m. She has set track PR's of 2:14.93 for the 800m and 5:06.82 in the 1600m.

Flores also has transitioned her talent into cross country, setting PR's of 17:51 at the Woodbridge Invitational and 18:39 at Mt. SAC.

"Sandra is an untapped talent," said Elders. "She is a very strong middle-distance runner and when she elevates her training in college I believe she will develop into a great middle-distance and cross country runner at this level."

Gabriel Toscano
Mt. SAC | Rialto, Calif.

Toscano is the 2015 California Junior College State Champion along with the 2015 Southern California and South Coast Conference Champ all in the 800m. Toscano's PR in the 800m is 1:52.75.

"Gabe is very competitive and already knows how to win championships," said Elders. "He's very passionate about training and I believe he will become an immediate force in the Big West."

Ryan Wade
Murrieta Mesa High School | Murrieta, Calif.

Wade is a 6'3" sprinter who was a 2015 CIF-SS Finalist in the 100m. Wade has a PR of 10.88 in the 100m.

"Wade is a diamond in the rough," said Sprint Coach Marques Barosso. "He will really blossom at the college level."
