Titans Travel to UCLA for Legends Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. – The men's and women's outdoor track and field teams travel to Westwood, Calif. to participate in the UCLA Legends Track and Field Invitational starting on Friday at 12:00 p.m. while the final event gets underway on Saturday at 5:40 p.m.

The Titans are coming off a strong showing at the UC Riverside Spring Classic, taking home multiple first-place finishes and one Fullerton school record.  Senior Taylor Frank collected 4,672 points in the heptathlon competition in Riverside, stepping into the Fullerton record book by breaking Lacy Welborn's previous mark of 4,508 points set in 2003. 

The Titans will join three Big West Conference teams in Westwood as UC Davis, UC Irvine, Cal Poly will also compete in the two-day meet at UCLA.  Field events begin on Friday at noon with the women's hammer competition and the action on the track starts at 4:50 p.m. with the women's 3000-meter steeple competition.  Saturday will get underway at 12:00 p.m. with the men's long jump and will close with the men and women's 4x400m relay at 5:40 p.m.

Runners

One week after taking first-place overall in the 400m run at the UCR Spring Classic, Janaya Shorty will join Alexandria Stewart in the 100m dash before being the lone Titan representative in the 200m dash.  The men's 100m dash will be well-represented by the Titans with Mason Rollins, Nick Sole, Keawe Tolson and Malek Walls all vying for the top spot on Saturday at 3:50 p.m.

Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week nominee Joshua Gordon will be back in action on Saturday in the 200m dash for the lone individual event of his weekend.

Jumpers

Steven Williams
and Paris Pijuan will be back in action this weekend to attempt to take home first place in the high jump and pole vault, respectively, for two-straight meets.  Jonathan Tolentino is also back taking part in the long jump event, to open up the field events on Saturday, after posting a personal-best jump at UCR's Spring Invite in his last time competing.

Throwers

Daniel Walker
, the Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week nominee for the Titans a week ago, will look to rise up the leaderboard again this week as he joins Alexander Ostrowski in the event on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.  Walker is coming off a personal-best throw of 199-feet-9 inches at the UCR Spring Classic.

The trio of Jessica Flores, Alexandra Kemp and Amanda Mercado will participate in the hammer throw on Friday at noon to open all events for the UCLA Legends Invite.  Kemp is coming off a personal-best throw in the event at the UCR Spring Classic and Flores is just two-weeks removed from setting the Fullerton school record for the hammer throw at the UNLV Spring Invite on Mar. 20.
