DAVIS, Calif. – The 4x100m relay team paced Cal State Fullerton Saturday, as the squad won the relay race on the final day of the 2014 Big West Track and Field Championships at UC Davis' Toomey Field & Woody Wilson Track.

A foursome of Alexandria Stewart, Katie Wilson, Ashley Sims, Janaya Shorty ran a time of 45.33 in the 4x100m relay and a recorded a season best on the year. 

The Titan women finished the day in seventh place with 49 points, while the men placed eighth with 43.5 points. The UC Davis women recorded their third straight Big West Championship with 194 points on the weekend. The Long Beach State men ended up winning their second consecutive conference title with 218.5 points.

The Titans had great performances from Sims and Shorty in the 200-meter dash who finished second and third with times of 23.86 and 24.28.

Sims also recorded a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.76. In the women's 400-meter dash senior Katie Wilson took second place with a time of 53.64.

In the women's 800-meter run Tejera Dial continued her successful season with a fifth place time of 2:15.07, while senior Jasmyne Davis took home third in the long jump with a leap of 18-10.50.

On the men's side, Luis Matos led the Titans in the 100-meter dash with a fourth-place finish with a time of 10.58. The Titans also found success on the men's side in the 400-meter dash as Taylor Ros made the podium with a time of 47.76.

In the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, freshman Gilbert Solorza and Daniel Ramirez finished fourth and fifth respectively with times of 9:12.73 and 9:19.86. In the men's 4x400-meter relay, Fullerton finished in third place (Ros, Matos, Daniel York-Mouton, and Joshua Gordon) with an impressive time of 3:13.87.

Off the track, Malik Johnson placed third in the high jump with a mark of 6-07.00. The Titans will now wait to see who qualified for the NCAA West Regionals.

Decathlon and Hepthalon Bubba Ostrowksi, Nicolette Garcia, and Taylor Frank all had impressive performances at the Big West Combined Events Championships last weekend.

Ostrowski finished fourth with 6,286 points, while Garrett Demirjian of Long Beach State won the event with 7,014 points. 

On Saturday, Ostrowski took third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.06), sixth in the discus 116-06 and 11th in the 1500m (5:46.58). He also finished fourth in the pole vault (13-05) and sixth in the javelin throw.

On Friday, Ostrowski finished second in the 100-meter dash (11.48) and 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.01. In addition, he took first in the long jump (23-00.0), second in the shot put (41-04.25) and was ninth in the high jump (5-05.00).

On the women's side, Taylor Frank finished with a personal best score of 4,189 points to finish 12th, while Nicolette Garcia placed 14th with 3,897 points.

Frank's best performance of the day came in the javelin throw when she finished third with a toss of 110-11. Frank also took seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.16, while Garcia placed 10th with a mark of 15.33.

Garcia finished 15th in the high jump (4-06.25), 10th in the shot put (28-05.50), and 14th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.08. During the final day of completion, she finished 14th in the long jump (15-09.0), 9th javelin throw (87-11), and 11th in the 800-meter run (2:36.24).
