FULLERTON, Calif.- After a solid opening weekend of the 2015 season, the Cal State Fullerton Indoor Track and Field team will travel to Seattle, Wash. this weekend to take part in the University of Washington Invitational starting on Friday and finishing up Saturday.
Sprints/Distance Runners
The running corps will experience a boost this weekend at the UW Invitational as new school-record holder Tejera Dial will make her first appearance of the season in the 800 meter run. Janaya Shorty, who had to sit out last weekend in Albuquerque due to an injury, will return to take part in the 60m dash and 200m run. Also, Alexis Stewart will join the Titans in Seattle and will also participate in the 60m and 200m competitions. Elizabeth Claustro, Calaiah Branch, Tyler Hardge and India Owens, Alexandria Stewart and Morgan Thompson will all be back in action this weekend and look to improve on their season debuts.
Jumps
Ty'Jalayah Robertson is back to lead the Titan jumpers this weekend, vying for the top spot in the triple jump a week after taking third-place overall in the UNM Lobo Collegiate meet. Ifunanya Gwacham will also take part in the triple jump and will join Robertson in the high jump competition. Coming off her collegiate debut, Laura Hamann will participate in the long jump and the triple jump. Hamann had the longest jump of the day for Fullerton in the long jump in their last time out, posting a jump of 5.08m.
Throws
Amanda Mercado, Alexandra Kemp and Jessica Flores will head up the throwers unit for the Titans a week after all setting personal-bests in the weight throw at the UNM Lobo Collegiate meet. All three will once again be competing in the weight throw competition with Mercado adding the shot put on to her scheduled events for the weekend.
Combined Events
Taylor Frank will carry the torch for the Titans in the pentathlon for the first time this season. Frank is the Fullerton school-record holder in the pentathlon, setting the all-time mark last season with a mark of 3,093 points.
The Titans will also be contending for the top spot in the 4x400m Relay and the Distance Medley Relay this weekend at the University of Washington.
