Online Registration for Hall of Fame

Every Thursday, FullertonTitans.com will feature a member of the 2015 Cal State Fullerton Athletics Hall of Fame class, the sixth in its history. Today, the focus is on Associated Students, Inc., the single largest supporter of Cal State Fullerton Athletics.

Associated  Students, Inc., has maintained a long partnership with Cal State Fullerton Athletics, not only providing financial resources for Titan Athletics, but in addition, serving as a representative of the entire student body, supporting student-athletes at athletic events throughout the academic year.

For decades, the department has received student fees and Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) funds that finance student-athlete scholarships, travel, as well as building and maintaining facilities.

Outside of funding, Associated Students, Inc., has been a constant backer at athletic events for several eras, serving as the bridge between athletics and the general student body and promoting Titan Pride. ASI has supported the Titan Tusk Force which provides a strong sense of campus unity, pride, and identity with CSUF achieving this through spirit events, tailgates, Titan Rewards Games and Homecoming Week.

In the spring of 2014, the Student Success Initiative was passed, arguably the most significant event in Titan Athletics history. Associated Students, Inc., supported the passing of the SSI, which not only provided funding for athletics but served student needs throughout the entire campus, leaving a long-lasting effect on Titan Athletics.

While currently in the second year of implementation, the Student Success Initiative will generate $1.9 million for student-athlete scholarships and $2.2 million for facility enhancement.

With the passing of SSI, all athletic teams will be fully-funded in scholarships, aging facilities and capital projects will be given attention, while lighting the intramural fields has already been completed.

Associated Students, Inc., has been a significant partner in helping achieve the 158 percent increase in student attendance at athletic events from 2013-14 to 2014-15.

Improvements that can already be seen on campus include a state-of-the-art Daktronics video board at Titan Stadium as well as lighting on the student recreational fields. Also, the funding has helped maintain and improve athletic facilities while also assisting operating budgets for recruiting, travel and staffing.

The sixth class of the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Hall of Fame will be inducted on Thursday, Oct. 15 at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim with a cocktail hour beginning at 6 p.m.
