ORLANDO, Fla. --- The Cal State Fullerton dance team claimed second place in both Division I Pom and Jazz at the UDA/UCA Collegiate National Championships out at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando on Sunday.
For the Titans, the result marks its ninth consecutive top-two finish in the Division I Jazz compitetion, an impressive streak extending all the way back to 2010. Fullerton was just edged out by Hofstra in the Division I Pom competition, while the University of Delaware claimed the win in the Jazz Finals.
The Titans finished high than fellow Big West rival Long Beach State in both competitions, as the 49ers took seventh in Pom and 10th in Jazz.
"They left every ounce of determination on the competition floor," said dance advisor Jennie Volkert. "These girls are true representatives of the Cal State Fullerton Dance Team and Athletics. They were class acts the entire weekend."
"Being named second in the nation for both Jazz and Pom is a major accomplishment for this team. We could not be prouder of each and every one of them."
The Jazz performance was choreographed by Kenndra Hofstetter, while the Pom routine was choreographed by Kenndra Hofstetter, Mindee Lands and Krysten Dorado
Seniors Hayley Roy, Haley Jo Marr, and Valerie Gaitan leave Cal State Fullerton as three-time champions. The Titans had won eight straight national championships prior to this year.
