Position: Director of Strength and Conditioning

Director of strength and conditioning Isaac Salazar returned to Cal State Fullerton in February of 2012.

Salazar earned his masters degree in kinesiology (performance enhancement emphasis) at Cal State Fullerton in 2009, and served as the graduate assistant coach for the Titans from 2007-09.

Prior to joining the Titans in 2012, Salazar served as a performance enhancement specialist for major and minor league baseball players at the Boras Sports Training Institute in Newport Beach, Calif.

Salazar designed year-round in-season and preseason strength and conditioning programs, provided education on lifting techniques as well as sports nutrition.

From October 2009-June 2011, Salazar served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at UC Irvine working with men’s soccer, men’s tennis, men’s golf, women’s water polo, and track and field as his programs combined for six Big West championships during his tenure.

Prior to his stint with the Anteaters, Salazar was the head strength and conditioning coach for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the minor league Class A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He directly oversaw and implemented movement assessments, scheduled lifts, speed and agility programs and injury prevention.

From 2006-07, Salazar was a physical therapy aid at Restor Sports Physical Therapy in Fountain Valley, Calif., overseeing rehabilitative exercise programs and implementing therapeutic modalities for the outpatient physical therapy clinic.

Salazar earned his bachelors degree in exercise and sports science at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, Calif., where he served as strength and conditioning coach from 2005-07 for the baseball program.

He was the school's kinesiology student of the year in 2005-06, and played baseball from 2002-06.

Salazar is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), and also holds a United States Olympic Weight Lifting certification (USAW). The Newport Beach, Calif., resident has been a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 2007, and holds a Poliquin International certification program level 1. Salazar is also a National Academy of Sports medicine performance enhancement specialist.
