Position: Senior Associate Athletics Director

Steve DiTolla returned for his second tenure in the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Department on July 16, 2001.

He is a member of the Senior Management Team and provides administrative and strategic leadership for the department.  DiTolla directs and oversees marketing and brand management.  He provides oversight of the marketing department including event marketing, ticket sales, promotions, and fan experience. He also oversees, facility improvements, facility rentals, and event operations.  His duties also include the administration and supervision of both the baseball and women's basketball programs.

DiTolla first served the Cal State Fullerton campus from 1985 to 1992 as the associate athletics director/business affairs (CFO). He also had a short term as interim athletics director in 1991. During that time he hired back head coach Augie Garrido and then associate head coach George Horton to the Titan baseball program

On the field, DiTolla has been a part of almost every major accomplishment in Titan Athletics.  He was the sport administrator for the now defunct Titan Football program during coach Gene Murphy’s tenure, coach Maryalyce Jeremiah and the 1991 Women’s Basketball team’s appearance in the NCAA tournament, coach Ali Khosroshahin and the 2005 Women’s Soccer team’s run to the Sweet Sixteen, and coach Bob Burton’s 2008 Big West Men’s Basketball Tournament championship team and their appearance in the NCAA Tournament.  Perhaps his greatest contribution to Titan Athletics has been in baseball.  DiTolla has been the long-time sport administrator for CSUF’s nationally competitive program. He spearheaded the searches for coaches Larry Cochell, Augie Garrido, George Horton, Dave Serrano, and Rick Vanderhook. All five brought the Titans to the College World Series. He has accompanied the Titans on twelve trips to the College World Series, including a National Championship in 2004.

DiTolla was instrumental in establishing the Titan Athletics Hall of Fame and has assisted Titan Athletics in fundraising for over twenty years. He also established the Sports Marketing and Sponsorship programs at CSUF.  DiTolla is responsible for the department’s branding program which includes a long term shoe and apparel agreement with Nike.  He has overseen nearly every facility improvement project including the new strength and conditioning center and the golf practice facility. He is responsible for the facelift in Titan Gym in addition to all upgrades at Titan Stadium, Goodwin Field, Anderson Family Field, Titan Track and Field Complex, and the Titan Tennis Courts.

The 1979 graduate of the University of Arizona and former Wildcats baseball player began his professional career as assistant ticket manager with the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. He then spent almost six years as athletics accountant and director of promotions and marketing at the University of Colorado.  In 1993, he left intercollegiate athletics to become vice president at Jammin Sports Apparel in Anaheim for eight years.

DiTolla has been coaching high school football since 2003. He was a coach for the 2006 and 2007 CIF Champion El Dorado High School Football teams. He currently assists at Yorba Linda High School (2016 CIF Champions), working with the defensive backs at the varsity level.

DiTolla has been a member of the Fullerton South Rotary Club for over twenty years serving as president in 2005-06 and is currently on the board of directors.

The Denver native and his wife, Gail, live in Placentia. He has two sons, Justin and Brandon, and three stepsons, Kyle, Brandon, and Chad.  They are also the proud grandparents of Scotlyn, Piper, Zackary, Hannah, and Hailey.
