Cal State Fullerton Athletics

Rick Nelson, Athletics Administrative Coordinator, comes to the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Department with over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, providing management level oversight and supervision of automotive service departments. 

In his current position, Nelson delivers high-level administrative, personal support, and customer service for the Athletics Director, Associate and Assistant Athletic Directors, other administrative staff and coaches in the department, as well as the campus community in addition to Titan Athletics supporters.

He recently joined the campus in 2014 to pursue his passion of providing services and support to Cal State Fullerton Athletics students and staff. Prior to joining Titan Athletics he served as a Service Director and Manager for Orange County Toyota, Nissan, BMW and Audi Dealerships.

Born in Hawthorne, Calif., and raised between his family’s hometown roots in Hawaii and eventually Westminster, Calif., Nelson is familiar with the diversity that makes up the Cal State Fullerton campus. Graduating from Westminster High School in 1982, and after living in Orange County for most of his life, has seen over 40 years of change in the area. In 2003, Nelson met his wife, a graduate and employee of CSUF.

Nelson, his wife and family, Alexa (23), Rikki (21), Tyler (18), Kai (3), live in Buena Park. When Nelson is not at a Titan sporting event you can find him on his surfboard in the summer and snowboard in the winter.  In between surfing and snowboarding, Nelson also loves to travel.  His favorite destinations are Alaska and Hawaii.
